EdU (5-ethynyl-2′-deoxyuridine) is a main component of many cell proliferation assays, including Click-iT® EdU Alexa Fluor® Imaging Kits (Invitrogen), EdU Imaging, Flow Cytometry, and HTS Kit (Baseclick). In these assays the alkyne-modified thymidine analogue is efficiently incorporated into newly synthesized DNA and fluorescently labeled through highly-specific click reaction.
