Description:
FA-PEG-SH is one of reactive folate PEGderivatives that have a folic acid on one terminus of PEG chain and a thiol(-SH) group on the other PEG end. Folic acid is also known as vitamin M,vitamin B9 or pteroyl-L-glutamic acid. Folic acid is an essential bioactivemolecule for numerous biological functions. It participates in the synthesis, repairingand methylation of DNA as well as to act as a cofactor in many biologicalreactions. Thiol functionalized folic acid PEG allows the attachment of folicacid to gold nanoparticles or other molecules through its reaction to thiolreactive groups, such as maleimide. PEG linker bridged folic acid and thioloffers better water solubility, flexible linker structure and enhancedstability. Molecules or materials conjugated with PEG folic acid are useful fortargeted drug delivery, cellular imaging and bioassay development.
