Description:
DSPE-PEG-Hydrazide is one of carbonyl reactive phospholipidPEG derivatives that can react with aldehyde or ketone groups derived frompolysaccharides or glycoproteins. DSPE(1,2-distearoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphoethanolamine) is an 18 carbon phospholipidthat is highly hydrophobic. PEG backbone, on the other hand, offers goodhydrophilicity and water solubility. Hydrazide reacts with aldehyde groupreadily to form a stable hydrozone linkage which is more stable than schiffbase formed between aldehyde and amine group. Reaction between hydrazide andaldehyde allows quick and efficient conjugation of phospholipids to carbohydrates,glycoproteins, antibodies and enzymes. PEG linker between DSPE and hydrazideoffers better water solubility, flexible linker structure and enhancedstability.
