PEG衍生物依分子量不同而性质不同,从无色无臭黏稠液体至蜡状固体。分子量200~600者常温下是液体,分子量在600以上者就逐渐变为半固体状,随着平均分子量的不同,性质也有差异。从无色无臭粘稠液体至蜡状固体。随着分子量的增大,其吸湿能力相应降低。本品溶于水、乙醇和许多其它有机溶剂。蒸气压低,对热、酸、碱稳定。与许多化学品不起作用。有良好的吸湿性、润滑性、粘结性。无毒,无刺激。平均分子量300,n=5~5.75,熔点-15~8℃,相对密度1.124~1.130。平均分子量600,n=12~13,熔点20 ~25℃,闪点246℃,相对密度1.13 (20℃)。平均分子量4000,n=70~85,熔点53~ 56℃。PEG衍生物种类如下:
