Amine group reacts readily with a number of amine reactive groups, such as succinimidyl ester (NHS), COOH, aldehyde, etc to form stable covalent bonds. Pegylated biotin has high affinity toward avidin or streptavidin. Biotin/avidin system has been used widely in biomolecule detection and separation. PEG linker between biotin and amine offers better water solubility, flexible linker structure and enhanced stability.
