Description:
MPEG-COOH is one of carboxylic acid (-COOH) functionalized polyethyleneglycol derivatives that can be used to modify proteins, peptides, particles andother materials with their free acid group. Carboxylic acid groups react readilywith amine groups to form stable amide bond. They can also react with hydroxylgroups to form labile ester bond which can be cleaved under acidic or basic conditions.PEGylation can increase solubility and stability and reduce immunogenicity ofpeptides and proteins. It can also suppress the non-specific binding of chargedmolecules to the modified surfaces. Acid functionalized PEG has broadapplications in the field of medical device modification, biomoleculepegylation and particle surface functionalization.
